ADULT FORUM IN 2009
Real life questions and discoveries for God's real
life people
Adult Forum is a time for exploration, study and
reflection about living fully as God's people. Adult Forum meets each
Sunday, beginning right at 9:45am, the same time as Sunday School, and
ending at 10:45am.
Five or six-week courses on important topics
In blocks of five or six weeks each, we will examine
three important questions of Christ-centered living:
Ethics: How do we make key decisions as followers
of Christ?
January 11 to February 22
The Bible as Book of Faith: How do we sink our roots deeper
into God and Christ?
March 8 to April 5
Relationships: How do we live with one another each day with
meaning and joy?
April 19 to May 17
On the Sundays in between the course dates listed
above, Adult Forum will also be held and we will have some special on
session classes.
New Location: Adult Forum will begin meeting in the Fellowship
Hall next to the kitchen. This will allow us to sit at tables in a
circle so that we can speak more easily to each other.
A
Congregational Journey in Lent
Sinking Deeper Roots In The Bible
Looking ahead to the season of Lent, which starts on Feb. 25th with
Ash Wednesday. Pastor Jaech invites the whole congregation to commit
itself to a seven week study of the Bible. During the Sunday Adult Forum
time (9:45am - 10:45 am), beginning March 1, a class will be offered in
the Fellowship Hall entitled Book of Faith: A Lutheran Look at the
Bible. In this class you will learn:
* How was the Bible written?
* How were the books of the Bible chosen?
* What are the main themes of the Bible?
* What is the unique Lutheran way to interpret the Bible?
The forty days of Lent present a key opportunity to deepen our
connection to God in a variety of ways through worship, prayer, study
and service. This year, our overview study of the Bible will be a
meaningful way to do that. Pastor Jaech has a goal of signing up at
least 40 people to take this class! Together we will take an exciting
journey through the Bible.
Also, Pastor Jaech will offer three Lutheran History and Teaching
classes the following Sunday mornings during the Adult Forum time
(9:45am) on January 11, 18, 25. These classes are designed for you
to learn about the Lutheran Church - we welcome newcomers and "seasoned"
Lutheran's alike to join the classes. For those interested in becoming
members of BLSC, we recommend that you attend these classes. Contact
pastor Jaech if you have questions.
Christian
Ethics 101
Look what's happening on Sunday's in February at 9:45 AM in the
sanctuary. (Adult Forum will meet in the fellowship hall).
February 1st - Case: Klamath Conflicts, Limited Water
Resources. In our first case about the environment, we will be
discussing who's voices should be heard when deciding to limit water
usage. Farmers? Environmentalists? Politicians? How do we find the
Christian perspective on environmental issues?
February 8th - Case: Bring your own!!! This Sunday we
will discuss real life ethical issues found in your own lives, on the
internet, in he newspaper, etc.
February 15th - Case: Vietnam and Iraq. A Vietnam
veteran questions what he should tell his grandson about war and the
draft. We will discuss Christian perspectives on violence.
February 22nd - Case: Our Responsibilities. Wrap up and
final conversation on ethical dilemmas.
Spanish
Classes Offered
Pastor Abel Gomez, who is the pastor of the Hispanic
congregation worshipping at Beautiful Savior on Sunday afternoons, will
offer a basic Spanish class on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm. There is no
cost to attend, except perhaps for the cost of the learning materials
you will use.

Join us on Wednesdays at noon for a Bible Study of the
Book of Exodus, led by Pastor Jaech. Bring a sack lunch with you if
you’d like.
On Tuesdays at 10 AM, Shirley Vegdahl and Clare
Erickson will lead a Bible Study produced by Augsburg Fortress called " Rediscovering
