Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church supports several different Social ministries throughout our community. Our giving is dedicated to share 10% of our gifts with the wider community. Here are some of the ministries we support:
Under the guidance of our Pastor, the Care Team provides short and long-term assistance to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Members and the Community. Caring assistance is provided through meals, transportation, visits, and phone calls. The Care Team demonstrates God’s love in action by nurturing the human spirit, one person, one cup and one neighbor at a time.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer shawls are knitted and distributed to those in need of prayer and comfort by members at Beautiful Savior. Our Shawl Ministry coordinator is Hilary Heizenrader. Please contact her if you would like to participate or to share a prayer shawl.
Our community Garden, a partnership between BSLC and Kaiser Hospital is in its 4th year and continues to “grow!” Garden plots are offered for a small fee of $15 to help cover the cost of water. Each spring community members sign up at church and sign a contract and are given a small plot to grow fresh produce. Please contact Doug Pike or Ray Smith if you are interested!
Council For the Homeless
Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church partners with the Council for the Homeless a local homeless advocacy organization dedicated to eliminating homelessness in Clark County. Please see their website for how you can get involved. http://www.councilforthehomeless.org/
Brown Bag Sundays
Each month Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church sponsors a Brown Bag Sunday where items are collected for local agencies and distributed to people in need. We work closely with Evergreen School district, Share House, Council for the Homeless and other community organizations for this project.
Each Tuesday and Thursday of the month members come together to make lunches that are distributed at the Southwest Washington Free Clinic. These lunches provide needed nutrition to both clients and staff and have become an invaluable part of the work there. Please contact Bill Sterr if you are interested in getting involved in this ministry.
